Wade Moon, Jr.

Wade Moon, Jr. was born October 2, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio to Ruth and Wade Moon, Sr. On Monday, December 10, 2018 he was called Home to glory after a lengthy illness. Wade, fondly called “Moon”, graduated from Columbus Public Schools. He was a veteran of the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He was employed by The City of Columbus in the Sanitation Department where he worked for a number of years before retiring. Wade was well known by many on the Southside of Columbus where he loved serving and helping others in whatever way he could. He had an infectious sense of humor and never met a stranger. Wade accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age. He was an active member and devoted supporter of the Hosack Street Baptist Church where he served for over 30 years. He was a member of the Male Chorus, the Hosack United Brethren Ministry, the Ola & Marvin Bibb Sharing Our Blessings Food Pantry ministry and a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. He was a faithful servant to his church, his neighborhood, and a blessing to children. Wade believed in making a joyful noise unto the Lord and always worshiped his God with a loud voice. In addition to his parents, “Moon” is preceded in death by brothers, James Jeffries Moon, George Moon and Henry Moon; and sisters, Emma R. Wilkerson and Cora Lee Hardy. Wade leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted sons, Christopher (Leta) Bond and Joe (Lisa) Bond; daughter, Jackie (Charlie) Brown; sister-in-law, Gloria D. Moon; nephew, Theodore (Teka) Johnson; many close friends; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
