Wanda Crockett

June 3, 1955 — October 16, 2023

Wanda was born in Montezuma, Georgia on June 3, 1955 to Jet J. and Barbara D. Hubbert. The family lived in Florida for many years before moving to Columbus, Ohio.

Wanda, affectionately known as “Wannette,” attended Linden McKinley High School, was a member of the Cadets Drill Team, in which she was a squad leader, and graduated in 1973. In addition, Wanda completed the clinical program to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).

Wanda was a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church and during her time of health and wellness, she served in the food pantry. In addition, she was employed at Nationwide Insurance Company and retired after 30 years of service. Wanda began a new career at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). While employed at the BMV, she received numerous performance awards.

Wanda had creative flare. She created the most beautiful occasion baskets and would deliver them as gifts to residents in senior citizen facilities to brighten their day. Her creativity did not stop there as she was a self-made and self-certified “amateur” chef! She loved creating new delicacies and would stare you down as you tried her new cuisine. “Well, did you like it?” she would ask, as you tasted her new cuisine. The only acceptable response was YES!

Whatever Wanda was passionate about she gave her whole heart to. She was passionate about fitness; she was passionate about the elderly; and she was passionate about her family. Her son, daughter-in-love, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the heartbeats of her life. There wasn’t a mountain too high or a valley too low that would impede her from doing all and being all that they needed.

On October 16, 2023, Wanda was called home to rest in God’s loving arms. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jim and Mary Hubbert, and maternal grandparents, Dove and Rosie Bostic.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, David(Rochelle) Crockett, Jr.; parents, Jet and Barbara Hubbert; Sisters, Vivian(Kevin) James, Zettawee Mix, Shirley Hubbert, and Janice Gray; Grandchildren, Deakwon Crockett, Deashon Crockett, David Crockett, and Deajwon Crockett; Great Grandchildren, Elias Crockett, Alizah Crockett, and Rowen Royce Crockett and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
