Wendell Brown was born March 13, 1958 to James and Juanita Brown in Mulga, Alabama. Wendell's early childhood education began with a kindergarten class conducted by a neighborhood teacher named Mrs. Sweetie Hicks. He attended Mulga Junior High School until the 2nd grade. His family later moved to Columbus, Ohio where he attended Livingston Elementary School and continued his education at Linden-McKinley High School. Wendell served in the United States Army for three years before attaining an honorable discharge in 1979. While enlisted, he was able to complete the requirements to receive his General Education Diploma (GED). His military experiences helped him to have a well-rounded perspective on life issues. Wendell worked at various jobs which carried him a long way in life. He accepted Christ at an early age. Wendell had a unique sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. He could mimic preachers and quartet singers that would cause his audience (which was family) to laugh and at the same time enjoy the presence of God during his front porch performances. There are a number of reasons why Wendell will always hold a special place in our hearts. He was the first grandchild born in the family and, at family gatherings, he would let it be known that he wore the label and carried the honor of being the oldest of all the grandchildren. Wendell is remembered as being funny, friendly, talkative, and sociable. You could describe him as a person who did not meet strangers. He loved his family and, on holidays, you could always look forward to receiving a phone call from Wendell wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. One of Wendell's dreams was to travel to California. That dream was realized in April 2019. He was in awe to have toured some of the popular sites he had seen on television. He enjoyed the trip so much that his plans were to visit California again. On February 20, 2020, at the age of 61, Wendell Brown passed away while at his residence in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Hattie B. Cheatham and Lula Bell Brown. He leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter Tashana Brown Heller; grandchild Jayden Heller; brother Roderick (Sheila) Brown; special friend Carol Jenkins; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
