Will (“Bill”) Roger Jones, Jr. was born to Will Roger Jones Sr. and Lula M. Jones (nee Childress) on July 29, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio. He departed this life on September 3, 2015. Will graduated in 1965 from Roosevelt High School, in Dayton, Ohio, where he was a member of the Varsity Track and Field and Varsity Football teams. Bill was a member of the track team that won the Ohio High School State Division II Championship in 1961. Bill played football at the college level in Iowa, as well as Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in 1969. Bill moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 1969, to attend The Ohio State University where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Administration in Higher Education. He met Taletha as a student at Ohio State and they were married in 1971. To this union were born three children, Christopher, Jessica and Eric. Bill worked at The Ohio State University, The Xerox Corporation, Anchor Hocking and Borden Foods. Until his retirement, Bill worked in retail at Kuppenheimer, Men’s Warehouse and New Balance. Bill joined First African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, in September 1983, and was a member of the Mass Choir. Bill was a loyal Cleveland Browns Fan and enjoyed watching football of all levels and watching his granddaughter, Imani, run track. Bill was friendly but quiet. Bill enjoyed being outdoors and talking with his neighbors and friends at Dairy Queen and the neighborhood store. Bill also loved dogs. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister Constance (Connie) Jones. He is survived by his wife, Taletha; children, Chris, Jessica and Eric; grandchildren, Imani Roberts and Carter Seipel-Jones; sisters, Rose Williams and Loretta Bell; brother, Richard Jones; close cousins, Anne Smith and Jimmy and Winifred Frazier; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
