William Bowie, Sr. was born April 8, 1944 in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the age of 69, while at the Kobacker House. A founder of The Spiritual Tornadoes, William was a very well-known gospel singer. He was also a retired employee of the Columbus Board Of Education. He was united in marriage to Georgetta Vickie Fells. William was preceded in death by his mother, Ora Lee Oliver, and a brother, Charles Edward Riley. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Georgetta V. Bowie; sons, Fothen (Sherita) Jennings, William Bowie, Jr. (Angela), and Kacy Bowie; daughters, Lucinda (Ronnie) White, Karen Fowler, Tonie (Roger) Wilson; Fachon Jennings, Lisa (Terry) Moore, Constance (Darryl) Ferguson, and Darrita Taylor; aunts, Mildred Dale and Ora B. (Charlie) Williams; uncle Tommie Riley; special friend Louis Smith; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Homegoing Celebration 11 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2013, at The Word Church, 115 Wilson Ave., where his family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the start of service. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Pastors Robert Earl Riley and Marvis McGowan, officiating.
