William C. “Pablo” Davis, 61, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Born February 25, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio, Pablo enjoyed a robust life in the business world as a leader in the creation of the music of the 70’s and 80’s. He retired from the music industry in the early 90’s, and started a second career in small business counseling, as an award winning business development specialist with the Small Business Administration, where he remained until his death. Pablo was a track star at Glenville High School in Cleveland. He was also a proud graduate of Ohio University and member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Pablo was known throughout the nation, if not the world, as a person that strived to make everyone happy. He loved life, water sports, good food, children, and especially his family in Cleveland and Columbus. Most of his adult life was spent in Columbus, but he also lived in New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta, during his entertainment career. Pablo was a successful music producer, director and promoter for 25 years. He was instrumental in the careers of the following entertainers: Midnight Star, Baby Face, After 7, Cameo, The Deal and many others. His influence made an indelible mark in the music that we hear even today. As a community leader, he led the Columbus Near East Area Commission in the Ameriflora years, as well as donated many hours to coaching entrepreneurs, helping them to reach their business goals. Pablo was preceded in death by his mother, Olga Dailor Willis Davis and father, William H. Davis, Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Caristan (Charles), sons Vaughn and Paul Davis, daughter Robin Mosely, brothers Berry G. Davis, William H. Davis, Jr., Jeffrey Springer, Scott Davis and a host of other family friends and loved ones who will miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the William Pablo Davis Scholarship Fund for African-American Business students, Ohio University, at Huntington National Bank. Funeral Service 7 p.m., Thursday, December 9, 2010 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 639 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the start of service.
