William Fredrick Phillips, son of the late Thomas Phillips and Marilyn Phillips was born on January 7, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a child he attended Eastgate and Brentnell elementary Schools. He was also a Graduate of East High School, where he was a tuba player for the East High School marching band. On April 1973 Billy made the decision to join the United States Navy until Honorably discharged. The military experience enabled him to attend Capital University, where he graduated with a degree in education. He used that degree to teach at-risk-youths for the Ohio Department of Youth Services. Billy had a passion for music. at an early age , blues, Jazz, R&B, gospel - all of it! He really loved music! You could be having a conversation with him and he would break out in a song, word for word. His earliest experience was with the Phillips family quartet. He would also dabble in playing the guitar. He was an active member of Kingdom Impact Church, Columbus, Ohio-Bishop Larry B Mays, pastor. At Kingdom Impact Church, as a disciple, Billy also found a friend in Larry. He leaves a life forever cherished his children: Angela M Bankston, (Daughter) Marko A Bannister, (Son in Law) Jovita Bowman, (Daughter) Brandon Watson (Grandson) Natasha Holland, (Grand Daughter) Pride Bowman Jr. (Grandson) Clayborn Bowman, (Grandson) Aaron C Bankston, (Grandson) Alexander M Bankston, (Grandson) Raymond Phillips (Brother) Michael Phillips, (Brother) Carlton Phillips, (Brother) Anthony Phillips, (Brother) Tonya Phillips, (Sister) and a host of his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends of the family.
