William Gray Jr

January 25, 1946 — January 10, 2016

William H. Bill Gray, Jr. was born January 25, 1946, in Greenville, South Carolina. William attended Fuller Norman High School, Greenville. In 1967, William relocated to Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Veronica, and newborn child, William H. Gray, III. Five years after the birth of their first child, they were blessed with a second son, Anthony DeWayne Gray. William was employed at R.G. Barry Corp, Laborers Local 423, and Buckeye Steel Castings where he later retired. William joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor G. Thomas Turner. He participated in several ministries including the Friendship Jubilee Choir, Pastoral Choir, and Men’s Fellowship. William was a devoted family man who put family first. They were second only to Christ. William was an avid reader and read his Bible daily with keen insight; he always desired to know the will of God for his life. William had the heart of a teacher with a selfless compassion to bring out the best in whoever would listen. His Praise was radical. He truly demonstrated the spirit of “Psalm 150”. William also enjoyed various sports/hobbies such as tennis, fishing, drawing, and chess to name a few. On Sunday, January 10, 2016, William was called Home to eternal rest. He was predeceased by his father William H. Gray, Sr., mother Ellen (Brewster), brother Robert Lee Gray, and sister Elaine Bolden. Bill's loving spirit and witty personality provide us with wonderful memories of him. We know he is always here in spirit and he will never be forgotten. The impact that his life had on others truly exemplify the words “Gone too soon”. William leaves to cherish his memories wife Veronica; children, William H. Gray, III (Cheryl) and Anthony DeWayne Gray; grandchildren, William Christopher and Gabrielle Ilon; siblings, Hattie (Charles) Rosemond, Mary Freeman, Catherine Thompson, Curtis Gray, and Fred Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
