William H. 'Bill' Smith

William “Bill” Harvey Smith Jr., 67, departed this life on Monday, May 18, 2015. He was born June 6, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to William Harvey Smith Sr., and Dorothy Mae (Dunlap) Smith. He was born second child of eleven children from this union. As a child, William attended Catholic Schools and Columbus Public Schools, graduating from Linden McKinley High School. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy. Bill attended The Ohio State University where he studied Pre-Law. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. He married Gladys Reese in 1978 and they are the parents of Onnesti Nicole and Lauren Domnique. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by is identical twin brother, Wayne Harvey Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory loving daughters, Onnesti and Lauren; three brothers, Delbert, Anthony, Gregory (Lenora) Smith; six sisters, Yvonne (Harry) Twyman, Michele (Ed) Swindall, Sandreesa (Charles) Burnett, Yvette (Robert) McCaroll, Antonia Walker, and Carmelita Smith, who all live in Columbus, Ohio; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; including Tommy Bay Alrashada and Jeffrey Smith; and beloved pet dog, Leo. Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the chapel at DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICES, 720 E. Long Street. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:00 pm until the start of service.
