William Harris

William J. "Bill" Harris, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, May 27th, 2024 in Pataskala, OH at the age of 84. He was born in Thomaston, Georgia on Thursday, August 10th, 1939.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Gail Patricia Harris; children, Bryan Harris, Todd Harris (Yvonne), Jennifer LeGrande (Jesse); brother, Davie Harris, sisters, Glenda “Ruth” Cook, Wendy Harris; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents, George and Annie (Drake) Harris.

Bill graduated from South High School and The Ohio State University. He served in the Navy and was a draftsman for the City of Columbus, OH. He later became the Deputy Area Manager of Detroit and Regional Manager of the Cincinnati office for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Bill also worked with the Franklin County Commissioners Office and was the Chairperson of the Federal Executive Board of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Additionally, he worked for HR Block doing tax preparation. Bill was president of the International Institute in Detroit, MI.

Bill was an avid golf player and racquet ball player. He enjoyed building remote control airplanes and boat models, reading and doing handyman jobs.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 22nd, 2024 in the chapel of Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 1370 E. Main Street, Columbus, Ohio, where his family will receive friends from 11:00am until time of service.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
