William Harrison, Sr., age 99, born November 14, 1915 in Dothan, AL, passed away December 7, 2014 in Columbus, OH. The proprietor of Harrison Grocery Store, in Philadelphia, William also worked in construction, real estate and held several other positions over the years. As a retiree, he also worked part-time for several years as a dish washer at the Fontanelle Restaurant. A former member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA, and a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, OH, where he served as a Deacon Emeritus. Predeceased by son, Daniel (Betty) Harrison, parents, Pastor Sam Henry Harrison and Cassie Kirkland Harrison, siblings, Inell (Willie) Seabrooks, Cassie Harrison, Riley Harrison, and Elijah (Velma) Harrison; former wives, Aretha Lane, Fannie Ledbetter, and Bessie Crawford; and son-in-law, James Roseboro. Survived by children, Margaret Roseboro of Philadelphia, PA, William (Tip) Harrison of Macon, GA, and David (Tamara) Harrison of Columbus, OH; David’s biological mother, Catherine Smith of Philadelphia, PA; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
