~ Place of Hawks Family Leader ~ Provider Defender ~ Deacon Bridge Builder Among Men Women ~ William “Bill” Wellman Berry, embraced by the Holy Spirit, Our Lord and Savior, laid down his cross of illness on Thursday, September 8, 2016. He was 82 years old. He was a native of Columbus, Ohio, where he attended Central High School. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, to both his late wife, Lois Laney Elaine Prater-Berry, and his present wife, Emogene Jean Berry. He was also a highly dedicated father to three children, Beljeania, Kimberley, and William, during his forty-two year marital union with his first wife, Lois. Before retiring from a lengthy and fulfilling career at the Online Computer Library Company (OCLC) in Dublin, Ohio, he was employed at The Columbus Dispatch, Ohio Coal Mine Company, and Carl L. Brown’s Food Liner. In 2002, Bill recommitted his life to Christ and officially joined Trinity Baptist Church where he proudly served as a Deacon, Bible School instructor, and in an array of ministries to include the “TBC Men’s Choir” and “The Young at Heart Senior Ministry.” In addition to his first wife, William was preceded in death by his mother Viola Camen, brother Robert “Bobby” Berry, and nephew Robert Berry, Jr. He is survived by his present wife, Mrs. Emogene “Jean” Berry; his immensely proud and eternally grateful children, Beljeania E. Berry, Kimberley Jodelle Berry-Savane, and William Taj (Hana Shanko) Berry; sister, Minister Jackie Ballard; treasured grandchildren, Mariam Savane and Astu Kabou; niece Robin (Eric) Mosley; nephews, Paul Holmes, Jr. and William “Todd” Prater; extended family members, Dannette M. Palmore, Steven (Leslie) Palmore, and Kevin Palmore; special friends, Deaconess Barbara King, Deacon Joe Harmon and Deaconess Mary Harmon, and Deserette Turner; along with a host of other loving relatives, extended church family, and friends.
