Yaa Domaa 'Maya' Antwi-Boasiako

Maame-Yaa Domaa Antwi-Boasiako, affectionately known as “Maya”, was born on June 5, 2003. After birth, she experienced complications that required her to remain in the hospital for two months. It was during this time that we should have lost Maya, but God delivered her to and through it all, and for the past thirteen years, she was able to live an abundant, full, active, purposeful and eventful life, void of any additional complications. She was a miracle child; a pleaser; a “yes” kind of young woman; a caregiver; an inquisitive being; a chef; an academic; a believer of God; an actress; a sister; a cousin; a friend; a leader; and a dancer. Maya and Nana-Yaw were very close. They fought, they laughed and she acted like Nana-Yaw was her son. She was his personal alarm clock and made sure he didn’t make her late for church because she loved praise and worship. When Maya put her mind to something, she was relentless, dedicated and unwavering. While she aspired to be a pediatrician, she also spent hours perfecting her outfit changes, dance moves, and lip-syncing skills for her dance videos. She moved with grace, sang with grace, and spoke with grace. She is the daughter of Christina Osei and Akwasi Antwi-Boasiako and leaves behind three brothers, one sister, a grandmother from the maternal side, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. One thing Maya wanted to do that she couldn’t do, was that she always wanted to go to Disney World. We know she’s enjoying a better Disney World now. Maya is now resting in the bosom of the Lord, and it is well with our soul.
