YaVetta Marie Blair peacefully departed this life, June 29, 2014, at home. Affectionately known as Vett, she was born September 23, 1964 to Raymond and LeVeda Shy in Toledo, Ohio, where she spent much of her childhood. Vett moved to Columbus, Ohio in the winter of 1980 along with her oldest son, Matthew, her parents and siblings. She was educated in Columbus City Schools and attended Columbus State Community College. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a member of Beth-El Agape Christian Center. In the spring of 1985, she married Theodore Swan. Two children were born from this union. She met and fell in love with the love of her life, Carl “Cubby” Blair in 1991, whom she later married. Vett was a loyal employee of Franklin County for more than 14 years. Vett was a selfless mother, most proud of her children. She loved music and could often be found watching Law and Order, one of her favorite past times. Her charm and humor made people fall in love with her. She could easily turn a tearful conversation into laughter. She is proceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ernest and Druescilla Martin; paternal grandparents, Willie and Marie Shy; and son, John D. Swan III. She leaves to cherish her life and memory husband, Carl “Cubby” Blair; parents, Raymond (Laverne) Shy Sr. and LeVeda Shy; siblings, Victoria (Ed) Fisher, Raymond Shy, Betsy (Ernest) Blackshear and Willie Shy; children, Matthew (Sparkles) Shy, Tanisha Swan, and Tanika, Tramaine and Jerelle Blair; grandchildren, AnnaMae, Pharoah-John, Tanyjah, Marcus, Kiara, Inez, Laron and Jalen; special friends Angie, Laura and Leslie; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
