Yvonne Greathouse

Yvonne Marie Greathouse, 77, was born April 25, 1945 in Columbus OH, and finished her race on earth, receiving her heavenly reward on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

She was born on 4/25/45 in Columbus OH, daughter of Ellsworth and Woodie (Williams) Laws, and sister of Barbara, Harriett, Ella and Henry.

She married Eddie Joe Greathouse on 8/13/1969, and they had 3 children, Michael, Eddy & Talya; all who absolutely adored her.

She was kindness personified, a fierce protector of her family, and the very picture of temperance, contentment, compassion and grace!

She was an avid reader, loved the word of God, and was a die hard fan of Jeopardy; everyone knew NOT to call her from 7:00-7:30pm.

She was a dedicated member of Calvary Tremont Missionary Baptist Church, where Reverend Terry J Townes is Senior Pastor.

She was humble, with a gentle spirit that belied her strength. She wielded quiet control of her emotions at all times. She was one of the most intelligent women I knew. Although her own educational career was short-circuited by the birth of her eldest son, she persevered and completed her Graduation Equivalency Diploma, then went on to be the Bible scholar for several ministers working to obtain their PhD in Theology.

She was faithful, unbending, and unmovable in times of trouble. In all things, she always found a way to give God glory, thanks and praise.

Proverbs 31: 25-26 states “Strength and honour are her clothing; And she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; And in her tongue is the law of kindness.”

She was the woman that God set before us as his standard of a virtuous woman, the embodiment of fierce loyalty, humble strength, grace, dignity, and wisdom.

She will be deeply missed by all that love her, including her family, friends, church family and host of others; she truly touched many lives during her time here with us.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Woodie Laws; father, Ellsworth Laws; sisters Ella Harris, Patricia Laws, and brother, Ellsworth Laws Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Eddie Greathouse, son Michael House, son Eddy (Leazuan) Greathouse, daughter Talya (Harold) Greathouse-Young. Six grandchildren: Brandon Hambrick, Tiffany Greathouse, Aaron Greathouse, Austyn Greathouse, Kenadee (Brandon) Lake and Xavier Cain.
