Zelma Towers was born January 29, 1921 to William and Annie Pierce Cabiness in Elbert, West Virginia. She accepted Christ at an early age. For over 60 years, Zelma was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where she served in various ministries and worked with the Hunger Outreach Ministry until her health began to fail. She was devoted to her family, friends, and church. She retired from Riverside Hospital where she served as a patient visitor. She loved to sew, crochet, and bowl. On Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the age of 93, Zelma departed this earthly life while at Winchester Place Healthcare in Canal Winchester, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Daniel Cabiness, Harold Cabiness, William Cabiness, Jr., Sadie Cabiness, Margaret Ann Brown, Helen Still, Berta Mae Barnett, Mabel Fulgham, Jessie Robinson, Linda Lacey, Robert P. Cabiness, and loving nieces Shirley Durante and Regenia Melton. She leaves to cherish her memory, her adopted daughter, Paula Booker; loving nieces, Debra Durante, Sandra Still, Gloria Bell, and Anita (Curtis) Hairston; nephews, Michael Durante, Mark Durante, William (Roz) Brown, Harold Cabiness, and Michael (Shirlene) Cabiness; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
