Z'ion Ja'Rontae Barrett was born June 11, 1999 in Warren, Ohio to Tameika C. Stevens and Ronnie L. Barrett, II. Z'ion confessed his faith in Christ and was baptized at the New Salem Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Rev. Keith A. Troy. In obedience to God and the Church Covenant, after moving away from New Salem Baptist Church, he joined the Family Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Pastor Frederick V. LaMarr. Z'ion was active in the Youth Choir, Sunday School, Drum Line, and Youth Department. He was actively involved in the Ministries 4 Movement also. He attended the Reaching Higher Heights Summer Boot Camp, and also the After School Reading Enhancement Program at Family Missionary Baptist Church. He received his formal academic education in the Columbus City Schools, where he was a proud student of South High School. The final chapter of Z'ion's life came to a close on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, at the age of thirteen. Z'ion was predeceased by his brother Sa'Ron Barrett, maternal grandparents Cynthia Stevens-Hall and William N. Hall, aunt Cherry M. Stevens, uncle Derrick Stanford, and cousin Ti'son Ward. Left to cherish memories of Z'ion are his loving mother, Tameika; father Ronnie; sister Ke'Airra R. Stevens; brothers Rondell L. Barrett, III and Ronnie L. Barrett; maternal grandparents Cecil T. Stevens and Florence Manns; paternal grandparents Margaret V. Moore and Ronnie L. Barrett, I; great grandparents Essie Smith of Warren, Ohio and Cecil T. Stevens of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and a host of other relatives and friends.
